Cytonn Asset Managers Limited (CAML) is a regulated Fund Manager by the Capital Markets Authority and the Retirement Benefits Authority. The company is also a licensed Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) Manager under the Capital Markets Authority. Our objective is to offer superior risk-adjusted investment returns to our clients through investments in both the public and alternative investments markets. The fund manager provides Cytonn Money Market Fund (CMMF) (https://cytonn.com/asset-managers/money-market-fund), one of the high yielding money market funds in Kenya, which is fully automated for our retail investors.

CAML investors include global and local institutional investors, individual retail investors, and diaspora investors.

To manage the Finance Work for CIM Group and Real Estate Special Purpose Vehicles, we are looking for dynamic and hardworking individuals with strong analytical skills to join the Cytonn Young Leadership Program (CYLP) as Finance interns. At Cytonn, we are keen on recruitment as it offers us competitive advantage since our future success is primarily based on acquiring and training the most talented, motivated and capable graduates. 

Responsibilities

  1. Preparing and maintaining all the books of accounts. This includes assisting with month end closing processes and general journal entries to general monthly fund accounts.
  2. Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual statutory financials .
  3. Ensuring compliance with taxation and any other financial statutory requirements including filing and payment of PAYE, VAT and WHT among others.
  4. Bank and cash reconciliations and substantiate financial transactions with verified source documentation.
  5. Raising of monthly invoices for services offered by the fund manager and ensuring compliance of records.
  6. Tracking of fund transactions by timely posting of documents of original entry into the accounting system.
  7. Processing of payments to the service providers from the funds in a timely manner.
  8. Assist during internal and external audit exercise with the required requests and keeping an organised records and documents of all transactions.
  9. Undertaking company research using old records as directed by the supervisors
  10. Perfoming any other duties as directed

Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in a business related discipline with a minimum of Second Class Honors, Upper Division is essential.
  2. Minimum of B+ in KCSE, and in Mathematics and English.
  3. CPA(s) or its equivalent is an added advantage.
  4. Good communication skills.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and great computer skills.
  6. Strong numeracy, analytical, strategy and research skills.
  7. Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly.

Learning Opportunities

Upon joining the company, the successful candidates will undertake both departmental and company-wide training. In the Finance department, a customized training program will teach the graduates the fundamentals of financial statement analysis,  financial modelling and accounting. After the 12 weeks training, you will be ready to start your career in finance and accounting. Typically, you will be able to run the full accounting cycle including financial modelling, data recording and analysis, and financial reporting.

 

The successful candidates will be required to be very analytical, available including weekends to provide support in the finance department.
